Wired has a neat article on
Soviet arcade games. The Soviet Union didn't import any foreign games, obviously, so the article says that Russian developers created about 70 games between the late 70s and early 90s. Could this be why the USSR ultimately collapsed? I don't know what else you can point to. You can take away people's freedom and they'll live with it, but they won't live with crappy games.
